Punta Mita General Information

Punta Mita is located approximately 45 minutes northwest of Puerto Vallarta in an exotic location rich with traditional Mexican history. Long stretches of pure white sand and the most gorgeous crystal blue sea surround the point of Punta Mita. Home to one of the most exclusive resorts in the world, Punta Mita has become a favorite among celebrities seeking a private, convenient getaway location. Some say this region of Mexico is one of the last unspoiled places on Earth. Yet, you will not find yourself lacking in things to do. A whole range of outdoor activities are available, such as sailing, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, volleyball, golf and tennis. Punta Mita is also considered one of the area’s best places for deep-sea diving, snorkeling and surfing. You’ll find your cares drifting away as you lounge on the beach listening to the soothing sounds of the surf, or indulge yourself with a massage. Visit the nearby Church of Guadalupe, the Marietes Islands Wildlife Reserve, or spend a day in Puerto Vallarta. In Punta Mita, you will find the world’s finest restaurants, where you can dine with ocean vistas or beneath the stars. Once you experience Punta Mita with its primitive beauty and world-class amenities, you may never want to vacation anyplace else ever again.

Punta Mita is also a safe haven and popular destination of celebrities.  Bill Gates, John Travolta, Nicolas Cage, and Cindy Crawford are among some of the celebrities that vacation in Punta Mita.

Summers are sunny, with an increase in humidity during the rainy season, between June and October. At that time, thunderstorms often make their way over the mountains from Puerto Vallarta, reaching Punta Mita in the late evening. The rain typically ends by early morning, permitting outdoor activities in the sun for the majority of the day.

Winter months are generally warm, sunny and dry, with comfortable nights.

Villas Caribe Punta Mita Restaurant Selection

El Dorado:
Seafood, $5 to $25.  Although it doesn't look much different from its neighbors on Playa El Anclote, this beachside seafood shanty is recommended over the others for both service and food. Executives in ties and polished shoes climb wooden stairs to the open-air, second floor "conference room" overlooking the sand; all the others make their own sorts of deals barefoot in the sand. Seafood is pulled ashore within shouting distance of the kitchen, but you can also order a burger or chicken breast served with rice or fries. Bring your swimsuit and plan to stay a while. History

Punta Mita History

Punta Mita was a fishermen´s village for many years, until it was discovered as a great place to surf, featuring an extensive beach and great waves. Punta De Mita (Punta Mita for short) is a relatively new resort area 30 minutes outside of Puerto Vallarta.  Previously a small fishing town, Dine, (developer of Punta Mita and its Four Seasons Golf Club and Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course),  sought out the beautiful land and started to build.

Along with desirable surf breaks and a laid-back, as-you-like-it lifestyle, Punta Mita has held its ground by insisting on staying environmentally sound with low-density developments. Neighbors feel as if no one is around for miles, visitors and locals still enjoy seeing wildlife, and the pristine shoreline remains relatively untouched.  The 1,500-acre peninsula wins praise for its luxury and landscape, but also for environmental sensitivity. The Mexican government singled out Punta Mita for Ecological Excellence. In fact, DINE was the only tourism entity thus honored for sustainable development in 2004.

Punta Mita's reputation continues to soar, as the destination consistently ranks among the world's most desirable. Mexico's premier resort lies on the Pacific Coast, just north of the Puerto Vallarta International airport.  With the variety of ownership options, posh vacation rentals, flourishing amenities of the top luxury resorts in the world (Four Seasons, St Regis, and Rosewood) Punta Mita takes paradise to a whole new level.

Real estate sales are booming. Experts predict a 50 percent gain on 2004's record figures. The Four Seasons Private Villas – offered to you by Villas Caribe - sold out its first phase. Prices ranged from $1.8 - 4.5 million USD for the 15 hillside villas and the three elite oceanfront properties.

Buyers also snapped up the first two phases of the La Punta sites on the ocean, priced between $2.6 - 3.1 million USD. Other neighborhoods of oceanfront home sites sold out, including the 20 Ranchos estate lots, and the 4 Signature Estates that feature views to the famed 3B island hole of the Jack Nicklaus signature golf course. Lagos del Mar has just two lots still available, among the 32 clustered around the golf course.

Developer DINE just established a new company, concentrating on residential services. Owners can enjoy property management, rental services and a residential concierge. Soon a second golf course   also bearing the Jack Nicklaus signature   will begin construction (look forward to tee-times in mid-2007).

The Nicklaus-designed course is set within vistas of white-sand beaches and the surrounding Sierra Madre Mountains. Spread over 81 hectares (200 acres), it takes full advantage of its location. Eight holes border either the Pacific Ocean or Banderas Bay. One truly unique hole, a 194-yard, par-3, is located on a natural island in the ocean. The Punta Mita peninsula’s tropical landscape of palm trees and flowering trees add to the pleasure of playing this challenging course.

The most important thing to note is that in order to be recognized as legal, a civil ceremony is required. Religious ceremonies are common and in many cases encouraged by Mexican officials, but will not be recognized as legal unions.
