Punta Mita History
Punta Mita was a fishermen´s village for many years, until it was discovered as a great place to surf, featuring an extensive beach and great waves. Punta De Mita (Punta Mita for short) is a relatively new resort area 30 minutes outside of Puerto Vallarta. Previously a small fishing town, Dine, (developer of Punta Mita and its Four Seasons Golf Club and Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course), sought out the beautiful land and started to build.
Along with desirable surf breaks and a laid-back, as-you-like-it lifestyle, Punta Mita has held its ground by insisting on staying environmentally sound with low-density developments. Neighbors feel as if no one is around for miles, visitors and locals still enjoy seeing wildlife, and the pristine shoreline remains relatively untouched. The 1,500-acre peninsula wins praise for its luxury and landscape, but also for environmental sensitivity. The Mexican government singled out Punta Mita for Ecological Excellence. In fact, DINE was the only tourism entity thus honored for sustainable development in 2004.
Punta Mita's reputation continues to soar, as the destination consistently ranks among the world's most desirable. Mexico's premier resort lies on the Pacific Coast, just north of the Puerto Vallarta International airport. With the variety of ownership options, posh vacation rentals, flourishing amenities of the top luxury resorts in the world (Four Seasons, St Regis, and Rosewood) Punta Mita takes paradise to a whole new level.
Real estate sales are booming. Experts predict a 50 percent gain on 2004's record figures. The Four Seasons Private Villas – offered to you by Villas Caribe - sold out its first phase. Prices ranged from $1.8 - 4.5 million USD for the 15 hillside villas and the three elite oceanfront properties.
Buyers also snapped up the first two phases of the La Punta sites on the ocean, priced between $2.6 - 3.1 million USD. Other neighborhoods of oceanfront home sites sold out, including the 20 Ranchos estate lots, and the 4 Signature Estates that feature views to the famed 3B island hole of the Jack Nicklaus signature golf course. Lagos del Mar has just two lots still available, among the 32 clustered around the golf course.
Developer DINE just established a new company, concentrating on residential services. Owners can enjoy property management, rental services and a residential concierge. Soon a second golf course also bearing the Jack Nicklaus signature will begin construction (look forward to tee-times in mid-2007).
